Catona has the same fiber composition, thickness, and a very similar color range, making it an excellent substitute for Catania.

Schachenmayr Catania is a super popular cotton yarn loved by crocheters and amigurumi makers around the world. It`s a mercerized yarn with an even surface and good shape retention.
Crocheters highly value the beautiful sheen of this yarn. They bring out the fact that this cotton is very durable both to usage and washing. Catania doesn`t spill neither while working or later when using the finished product.
Lilleliis recommends:
- A very good basic yarn for different crochet project like toys, baby clothes and summer hats.
- You can mix and match this yarn with other similar ones from different brands (Scheepjes Catona, Gründl Cotton Quick, Katia Capri, G-B Wolle Carina).
- For amigurumi use with a 2 or 2.5 mm crochet hook.

Product Class 1 certificate holders must meet the strictest of criteria, which is why the Catania yarn is also suitable for making blankets, clothes and toys for babies and toddlers. In addition, the Catania yarn has undergone separate laboratory tests (European Standards DIN EN 71-3), which confirms that the yarn is suitable for the production of toys.
