Adorable Crochet Christmas Trees

These adorable crochet Christmas trees have brought me several evenings of pure making joy. They work up very quickly — basically, you can finish one set during the evening news. That’s why I’ve already picked out my yarns and placed them next to the sofa, and as soon as the news starts, I get to work.

USING UP YARN SCRAPS

I use leftover cotton yarns for crocheting these trees. Each tree takes about 2 grams of yarn. This means you can make good use of even the smallest leftover balls. Scheepjes Catona, Schachenmayr Catania, and all similar basic cotton yarns work perfectly.

You’ll also need a small piece of ribbon or string to make the hanging loop. I added wooden beads too — just because I liked the look.

The trees are crocheted using my Christmas Tree Garland pattern.

CHRISTMAS COLOR TRENDS 2025

I always enjoy researching the trending Christmas colors each year. Then I try to incorporate those shades into my creations. It feels like a little game.

According to Google, the key colors for Christmas 2025 are:

  1. Burgundy red and emerald green – these are the ones I chose for inspiration

  2. Charcoal grey and deep teal (an idea for some of my next evenings!)

  3. Natural tones like cream and coffee brown – I’ve already added these to my sets

  4. Untraditional tones like bright pink, French blue, soft lavender – oh yes, this sounds definitely worth trying!

  5. Metallic shades like gold, silver, and copper – these always work beautifully for Christmas trees!

CROCHET FOR THE SCHOOL FAIR

Many schools host Christmas fairs where students and parents are asked to bring something to sell. These little trees could be the perfect cute and seasonal addition to the school’s craft table. They don’t take too much time to make if you dedicate a few evenings to them, and you don’t need to buy expensive materials — leftovers you already have at home will do just fine.

TREE OR GIFT DECORATIONS

The small trees look lovely hanging on a Christmas tree, but personally, I like using them even more as gift decorations. It feels like a bonus on top of whatever is inside the package. When wrapping a gift, I simply tie one of the trees between the wrapping twine so that it can be easily removed when opening the present. Next Christmas, the recipient can hang the little tree I made on their own holiday tree.
