Where this crochet sheep began

For those of you who are new here – Fluffy Sheep was first published about 10 years ago in my amigurumi pattern book Cuddly Amigurumi Toys.

Since the Estonian edition of the book is now sold out, I decided to bring this crochet sheep back to life – this time as a modern, easy-to-follow PDF pattern available in my shop.

Why this crochet sheep is special to me

Fluffy Sheep is one of those designs that feels truly special to me. It’s one of those rare moments where I felt I had stumbled upon something unique – something with its own character and feeling.

The sheep has a very distinctive look (it has even been compared to Shaun the Sheep) and an interesting and textured choice of materials.

In many ways, it also became a forerunner to the characters in my later book Unforgettable Childhood Toys (currently only available in Estonian), where a similar soft, nostalgic, Scandinavian feel runs through the designs.

What’s new in the crochet sheep pattern?

Improved and simplified construction

One of the most important updates is the construction.

Ten years ago, the idea of no-sew amigurumi wasn’t really a thing. Today, many crocheters prefer designs with minimal sewing – and I’ve updated this crochet sheep pattern accordingly.

The body is worked mostly in one piece. Arms and ears can be attached as you go.

Only the face needs to be sewn on – because sometimes, that simply gives the best result.

Updated yarn choices

The original yarn used for this crochet sheep has since been discontinued, which led me to explore new options. And honestly – I think the result is even better.

By combining wool yarn with brushed yarns, I was able to recreate a soft, natural, sheep-like texture.

Inside the pattern, you’ll find three different yarn combinations, so you can choose the one that suits your style best.

Now available as a full photo PDF pattern

Previously, this crochet sheep was only available inside the book.
Now, Fluffy Sheep is available as a downloadable PDF pattern from my shop.

The pattern includes:

  • clear step-by-step instructions
  • detailed photos
  • a logical and easy-to-follow structure

Everything is designed to make the process as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

As you can see, I got a bit carried away while working on this sheep and ended up crocheting several.

They are simply so enjoyable to make!
