Crochet Shower Pouf
Free Crochet Pattern by lilleliis
Did you know you can make your own crochet shower pouf?
And it’s easier than you might think!
This simple crochet shower pouf is a quick and practical project that makes a great addition to your everyday shower routine.
I made mine with hemp yarn, which is lightweight, and has a gentle scrubbing effect. You only need one skein of yarn to make the entire pouf, making it an easy and budget-friendly project.
You can also use cotton yarn, but keep in mind that cotton becomes quite heavy when wet and, in my experience, doesn’t create as much lather as hemp yarn.
The crochet shower pouf is worked in just 4 rounds, making it a quick project even if you’re new to crochet. Before you start, make sure you know how to work a single crochet and double crochet stitches.
Once finished, use your crochet shower pouf with shower gel or soap to create a rich lather while gently exfoliating your skin. The pouf can also make a thoughtful handmade gift. Pair it with a favorite shower gel, handmade soap, or body scrub to create a simple DIY spa gift set.
This free crochet shower pouf pattern includes step-by-step instructions and is quick enough to make in a single workday evening.
Supplies you`ll need:
- Aran weight (10 ply) hemp yarn, for example Rico Creative Natur (100% hemp; 50 g / 100 m) – 1 ball
- 5 mm crochet hook
- darning needle
- leather cord (50 cm)
Finished size: approx 12 cm / 4.7 inches in diameter
Skill level: easy
Stitches and abbreviations (US crochet terms):
Magic ring, slip stitch (sl st), chain (ch), single crochet (sc), double crochet (dc), repeat (rep), stitch(es) – st(s)
About the pattern:
- The sponge is worked in joined rounds. At the end of each round, join with a slip stitch to the first stitch of the round.
- Work fairly loosely to create gaps between the stitches. This makes the sponge light and airy and helps it create a good lather.
SHOWER POUF CROCHET INSTRUCTIONS
1: Work in the magic ring: (dc, ch 1) repeat 20 times, sl st in the first dc of the round.
By the end of the round you will have 20 dc and 20 chains.
In the next two rounds, you will work in the ch-spaces only.
2-3: Ch 2, then work (dc, ch 1) 4 times in each ch-space, sl st in the first dc of the round.
By the end of round 2 you will have 80 dc and 80 chain spaces.
By the end of round 3 you will have 320 dc and 320 chain spaces.
4: Ch 1, then work sc in every ch-space, sl st in the first sc of the round.
Cut the yarn and weave in ends.
Cut a piece of leather cord at least 50 cm long and pull it through the center hole of the pouf. Tie the ends together at the top to create a hanging loop.
