Crochet bear motif – easy to make and provides lots of fun ways to use.

The first bear motif was made for my child`s school cardigan which had a nasty hole at the elbow part. Back then I used woolen yarn for the applique. Happily the cardigan lasted until the end of the school year :)

You can use bear motifs to decorate a sweater, a hat, a T-shirt or whatever clothing. But you can also turn it into a bunting and decorate your home. It`s especially cute in a baby`s room. Here`s a gift idea for those who love to make handmade gifts!

About the pattern:

  • Work in closed rounds. This means you will attach the last stitch of the round to the first stitch of the round with a slip stitch.
  • If using the motifs for making a bunting, it`s important to keep the back side of the work nice and neat as well. Make sure to hide all yarn tails carefully and unnoticeably.
  • Make appliques stronger and flat by starching them. Tutorial here.
