How to cut out heart-shaped fabric patches

In this quick video tutorial, I’ll show you how to cut out heart-shaped fabric patches to add to your amigurumi toys.
I’ve recently used these on my Envelope Cat’s tummy.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • It’s easier to cut hearts if you start with a small square piece of fabric that’s roughly the size you want your heart to be.

  • Let’s say you want a 5 × 5 cm heart patch — then cut a 6 × 6 cm square to leave a little extra room for cutting.

  • It’s a good idea to strengthen the fabric before cutting the patches. You can also make it less likely to fray by gluing a piece of adhesive fabric underneath. More in this post.
