Sissy bunny for the pattern

So here is Sissy bunny – the long waited pattern. It is probably one of my best designs so far and it seems that a lot of people think that way too, because the pattern was asked numerous times. It also is one of the biggest toys I´ve ever made – 52 cm when measured with ears. This makes almost 20.5 inches!

This time I decided to go for the same color combination as the first bunny I created. It was just too perfect to me! Although in spring I had made a girl version as well using dark pink, dark green and flower printed fabric, still the one with blue, brown and an old checkered fabric was closer to my heart. He is so precious, I think I will keep it to myself :)

Sissy bunny is crazy about carrots. He always carries one with. So the pattern also includes the instructions for the tiny carrot (about 8 cm) which can also be used separately. I made three carrots in the process of preparing the pattern and all the time my kids pilfered them and started playing with the carrots behind my back :)

In this bunny the small details are what matter – fabric patches on his paws, button on the trousers etc. I also added tiny wooden flower buttons to his shoes. I think they make a good balance with the rest of the embellishments.

When I wrote the princess doll pattern I was amazed of how long it came out. I thought there will never be a longer pattern then that. With Sissy bunny I managed to broke the record (although it never was my goal!). It is written in 21 pages and includes 62 photos of the process. I must say when I first saw the number I didn`t believe it. I thought I had miscalculated something. This all proves how huge work it is to write a pattern. People often doesn`t seem to understand there is hard work behind it. It probably seems like a lot of fun. And it is, but not only. And of course we must not forget the design. Sometimes it takes weeks or even months to create a toy that`s worth writing a pattern of!
